Creating Space to Heal

Over the past 2 months I have been struggling with post viral fatigue symptoms. This was similar to the symptoms I suffered from when I had Long Covid just a lot less severe. The symptom include fatigue, brain fog, hypersensitivity to sound, light and EMF.
After a month of having these symptoms during a therapy session my counselor suggested that I needed a space of my own to rest and reset. And that's what this blog post and the latest podcast on my YouTube channel are about.
I believe everyone needs some space to themselves sometimes. This is because most people if not everyone often give all of their energy to others. Whether it's at your job, home or even in your spare time, you're giving your energy to employers, family and friends. Even when you're watching TV or YouTube, you're giving your energy or your attention to the content creator.
So how do you create space? For me creating space meant spending a few days away at my friends apartment in North Wales. However, a lot of people can't just go away for a few days on their own. Many people have family members to take care of, bills to pay and a life to lead. I am lucky in that I live at home and have a flexible job where I can pick up and cancel shifts as and when I choose to.
But there are many ways to create space in daily life. For instance you can have a room at home, your own little space to give back to yourself. You could use it in the morning to do some yoga or use it in the evening to meditate. If you don't have the space you could also take to nature. Going for a walking or sitting in beautiful natural scenery can be a great way to create some space to rest and recharge.
So what did I do on my trip? I meditated, walked on the beach, watched the sunset and the moon rise and cooked some very inexpensive yet nourishing food. The trip wasn't without mistakes but it was a great first attempt and something I would definitely do again.
